Welcome to Peter Lalor Secondary college. We are a modern Vocational School specialising in applied learning focused strongly on preparing students for the world of work (Apprenticeships, Traineeships, and general employment) or further TAFE training.

We are unique in offering a Year 10 Applied Learning Program, the Victorian Certifiate of Education with a Vocational Major (VCE VM) at Year 11 and Year 12 and Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses. We are excellent at what we do because this is all we do.

Year 10 is aligned to the Victorian Curriculum Standards, delivered with an applied learning focus. Students will participate in learning activities that incorporate real-world activities and a practical application element, where possible.

From 2023, we will be delivering the newly reformed VCE VM to our Year 11 and Year 12 students.

At Year 11 and Year 12, we are career focused, offering three days of Victorian Certificate in Applied Learning (VM), onday of Vocational Education and Training (VET0a and one day Structured Workplace Learning (SWL). Four days of school and one day at work is an excellent way for students to not only learn but also prepare for the world of employment and often provides furture employment opportunities.

At Peter Lalor Secondary College, we understand that each student is an individual and we pride ourselves in our ability to tailor the learning environment to ensure we best suit the learning styles of our students. We have a strong focus on engagement and wellbeing. Our approach is strongly driven by building authentic relationships ith our students. This is underpinned by ‘unconditional positive regard’ which means that every day is a new day, and every student has the opportunity to delvelop, learn and grow in an environment that fosters empathy and understanding.
